A gargantuan THANK YOU to everyone who’ve downloaded Outré so far! From us behind Outré and from the creators involved, we sincerely thank you!
Since launch on Saturday, the famous Free Comic Book Day, we’ve had about 500 downloads. Of course, that doesn’t mean that five-hundred people have read it and enjoyed it, but let’s be gullible and believe that everyone who downloaded has, or soon will read it. And enjoy it.
Because the comments and feedback so far has been very positive. It’s great to see that the hard work the talented people we’ve got has paid off.
While the book features an eclectic selection of stories and steers clear of typical comic book tropes, this anthology is utterly devoid of pretense. It is, in the best way possible, non-threatening, probably one of the better ambassadors for the comic book medium seen from the indie community in recent years. Most of all, it is entertaining, and is likely to be just as entertaining to non-fans of comics as to diehard fanboys.
[…] boast the theme of responsibility throughout, showing it in various forms. How each character reacts to the responsibility thrust upon them is the key of the book and those characters react in ways that more or less run the gamut of character. Some embrace it, some refuse it and some simply observe it, but all of them are affected by it some way in the anthology.
So if you haven’t downloaded Outré yet, it’s right here waiting for you. And if you’re not quite convinced yet, here’s a brief interview with editor Glenn Møane about Outré and its goal.
“With Outré we hope to attract some new readers as well; people who like good stories and aren’t afraid to try out a different medium. Since most of these readers won’t find themselves in comic book store, an easily downloadable PDF is the way to go.”
While we at Outré are eager to get working on our next issue, about hopelessness, which is due in December, we’ll still be pimping Outré #1 and other interesting comics here every Wednesday.
Thank you again for the download, for spreading the word and for taking comics further into the masses of eager readers!
